B&C 10NDL64 – Powerful 10-Inch Neodymium Woofer with Maximum Excursion and Full Weather Protection

The B&C 10NDL64 is the highest-output woofer-class driver in B&C’s lightweight neodymium 10-inch range. At 97 dB sensitivity — 1 dB higher than the CL51, CLA64, and CL64 — with 6 mm of linear excursion, a 50 Hz – 3000 Hz bandwidth, and TWP waterproof treatment on both sides of the cone, the B&C 10NDL64 delivers more output, more displacement, deeper low-frequency reach, and better weather protection than any other 2.5-inch coil 10-inch woofer in B&C’s lineup.

The NDL naming convention signals what builders who know B&C’s range already expect — more motor, more output, and a stronger feature set than the CL-series it sits above. The B&C 10NDL64 uses a CCAW voice coil with a ventilated gap for reduced power compression, and the TWP treatment on both sides of the cone makes it the only 10-inch woofer in B&C’s range with full dual-side waterproofing. For outdoor installations, festival rigs, and any application exposed to weather, that’s a genuine differentiator.

Available in 8 and 16 Ω, the B&C 10NDL64 adapts to single-driver and multi-driver configurations. B&C recommends a 26-litre vented enclosure tuned to 62 Hz. At 2.9 kg, it’s heavier than the ultralight CL-series (1.3–2 kg) but still substantially lighter than the ferrite 10-inch alternatives (6–7+ kg) — the practical weight for builders who need the NDL’s performance advantages without the heft of a ferrite motor.

Design and Construction of the B&C 10NDL64

The B&C 10NDL64 uses a 64 mm (2.5-inch) copper-clad aluminium wire (CCAW) voice coil wound on a glass fibre former. The 14 mm winding depth operating in an 8 mm magnetic gap yields 6 mm of linear one-way excursion (Xmax) — the highest of any 2.5-inch coil 10-inch woofer in B&C’s range — with an additional 7 mm of travel (Xvar) before mechanical limits. That 13 mm total one-way excursion before damage provides substantial headroom for a driver in this weight class.

The motor uses a neodymium inside-slug magnet in a straight pole configuration, producing 1.25 T of flux density and a force factor (Bl) of 16.2 Tm. A ventilated voice coil gap allows air circulation around the coil, reducing power compression during sustained use — ensuring the B&C 10NDL64 maintains its rated 97 dB output during extended operation rather than gradually losing headroom as the coil heats up. The 16.2 Tm Bl driving the 37 g moving mass produces 1.8% efficiency — the highest of any 2.5-inch coil 10-inch woofer in the range.

The exponential cone profile supports pistonic behaviour into the upper mid-range, enabling the 3000 Hz upper bandwidth. TWP waterproof treatment on both sides of the cone provides full weather resistance — a significant upgrade over the CLA64 and CL64’s front-side-only WP treatment, and the CL51’s complete lack of cone treatment. For outdoor touring rigs and permanent install applications exposed to humidity, the dual-side treatment means the B&C 10NDL64 handles environmental conditions that would degrade untreated or single-side treated cones over time.

A single spider handles suspension, paired with a double-roll surround. At 2.9 kg, 261 mm overall diameter, and 113 mm depth, the B&C 10NDL64 is larger and heavier than the CL-series drivers but remains compact enough for portable applications. The 230 mm baffle cutout matches the 10MBX64 and differs slightly from the CL-series’ 232 mm — a small difference but worth checking for builders swapping drivers in existing cabinets.

Performance and Applications for the B&C 10NDL64

The B&C 10NDL64 delivers 97 dB sensitivity and 1.8% reference efficiency across a 50 Hz – 3000 Hz bandwidth. The 97 dB is the highest sensitivity of any woofer-class 10-inch driver in B&C’s neodymium range — 1 dB above the CL51, CLA64, and CL64, all at 96 dB. That 1 dB advantage is consistent across the power range, meaning the B&C 10NDL64 produces measurably more output than the CL-series at every power level from 1 watt to full rated power.

The 50 Hz lower frequency limit is the deepest of any neodymium 10-inch woofer in B&C’s range — 15 Hz deeper than the CLA64’s 75 Hz, 15 Hz deeper than the CL64’s 65 Hz, and 10 Hz deeper than the CL51’s 60 Hz. Combined with the 6 mm Xmax, the B&C 10NDL64 produces more usable bass output from a 10-inch frame than any of the lighter alternatives. For two-way systems where the 10-inch woofer carries the entire bass section without a dedicated sub, that low-frequency reach and displacement matter.

The Thiele–Small parameters define a vented and horn-loaded enclosure driver. A Qts of 0.26 and an EBP of 193 Hz place the B&C 10NDL64 in motor-dominant territory — tighter and more controlled in tuned enclosures than the CLA64’s 0.42 Qts, and comparable to the CL64’s 0.31. B&C recommends a 26-litre (0.92 ft³) vented enclosure tuned to 62 Hz — similar to the CL64 and CLA64 recommendations, making driver comparisons in the same cabinet straightforward.

Ideal applications for the B&C 10NDL64 include:

  • Two-way tops and stage monitors requiring maximum 10-inch output with weather protection
  • Outdoor installations and touring rigs where TWP dual-side waterproofing is essential
  • Vented and horn-loaded 10-inch cabinets for live sound reinforcement
  • Multi-driver arrays using the 16 Ω variant for impedance management
  • Systems needing the deepest low-frequency reach from a neo 10-inch woofer

Conclusion – B&C 10NDL64 Woofer

The B&C 10NDL64 is the most capable woofer-class driver in B&C’s lightweight neodymium 10-inch range. It leads the 2.5-inch coil 10-inch lineup on every output metric — 97 dB sensitivity (highest), 6 mm Xmax (highest), 50 Hz lower frequency limit (deepest), 1.8% efficiency (highest) — and it’s the only 10-inch woofer in the range with TWP waterproof treatment on both sides of the cone. Every spec upgrade over the CL-series is meaningful and justified.

The trade-off is weight: 2.9 kg versus 1.3–2 kg for the CL-series alternatives. For builders where minimum weight is the overriding priority, the CL51 and CLA64 remain the lighter options. But for builders who need the most output, the deepest bass reach, the most excursion, and full weather protection from a neo 10-inch woofer, the B&C 10NDL64 delivers all four without asking you to step up to the heavier 3-inch coil ferrite drivers.

For outdoor touring rigs, two-way tops that need to reach into the upper bass, compact vented cabinets, and any application where a 10-inch woofer needs to deliver maximum output with genuine weather resistance, the B&C 10NDL64 is the neo 10-inch that checks every performance box. It’s the NDL-series promise delivered at 10 inches — more output, more excursion, more protection, at a weight that still respects the neodymium advantage.
