EAW NT208L
2-Way Active 8″ Line Array — Newport Series
The EAW NT208L is a dual 8-inch active line array and the largest two-way module in EAW’s Newport Series. It produces a maximum SPL of 141 dB with low-frequency extension to 50 Hz — output normally associated with heavier dual 10-inch or 12-inch enclosures — from a box that weighs just 24.1 kg. A 2000 W Class-D amplifier and EAW’s onboard processing are built into the cabinet, so the NT208L hangs as a self-powered system with no external amp rack to rig, power or transport.
Output that punches above its size
Each NT208L carries two 8-inch woofers on 2.5-inch voice coils in a vented low-frequency section, paired with a single 1.4-inch exit compression driver on a 3-inch voice coil for the high end. The result is a usable range of 50 Hz to 20 kHz and a maximum SPL of 141 dB from a compact dual-8 enclosure. For touring and install work that means the coverage and level of a larger-format array without the weight and truck space those systems normally demand, which lowers labour, transport cost and rigging load across a run of shows.
Self-powered, bi-amplified design
The NT208L runs as a 2-way, bi-amped system with discrete amplification and processing for the low- and high-frequency sections, driven by an onboard 2000 W Class-D amplifier. Integrating the amplification into each enclosure removes the external amp rack entirely — fewer components to specify, fewer cable runs and faster get-ins. Onboard DSP holds each module’s response consistent, so an array behaves predictably as cabinets are added and the system scales cleanly from a short hang to a full-size array.
Adjustable Horizontal Directivity (AHD)
The defining feature of the EAW NT208L is EAW’s Adjustable Horizontal Directivity. Rather than locking the box to a single horizontal pattern, AHD lets the operator select between four coverage profiles in the field with toolless adjustments: 80° narrow, 110° wide, or 95° asymmetric aimed to the left or to the right. Vertical coverage stays a consistent 10°. That flexibility means one cabinet can be shaped to the room — tight and long-throw for a deep venue, wide for nearfield coverage, or asymmetric to favour one side of an audience — without swapping waveguides or stocking multiple box variants.
Designed to fly fast and accurately
The NT208L is built for flown deployment, with a dedicated flybar and an optional pullback flybar for shaping the array’s aim. The Online Array Assistant (OAA), EAW’s browser-based tool, calculates pick-points, splay angles and switch settings before the array goes up, so the rig is correct on the first hang rather than after a re-fly. On larger productions that up-front certainty saves real time on a show day and removes the risk of re-rigging work at height.
Built light and built for outdoors
At 24.1 kg per box, the NT208L is light for its output class. Newport Series cabinets are built from Baltic birch, steel and aluminium for the balance of stiffness, durability and weight that touring demands, and the EAW NT208L uses a Neutrik powerCON TRUE1 TOP connector rated for outdoor use. A rain hood is available to protect the rear panel during outdoor deployments, so the same cabinet works indoors, on a touring deck or out in the open at a festival.
Part of the Newport ecosystem
The EAW NT208L sits alongside the NT206L and NTX210L line arrays and the NT116S subwoofer within EAW’s Newport Series. Every Newport module shares integrated amplification and EAW’s Resolution software libraries for 3D SPL modelling and room optimisation, so a designer can predict coverage and output before load-in and deploy a system that behaves as modelled. Paired with NT116S subs, the NT208L forms a complete self-powered rig for medium to large-format work.
Applications
Large-format touring and live production, high-capacity fixed installations, outdoor festivals, corporate events, houses of worship and performing arts venues — wherever the reach and level of a bigger array are needed from a lighter, self-powered package.
