This results in an extremely linear motor assembly with a reduced tendency for eccentric behaviour when driven hard.

Voice coil cooling has been achieved by incorporating airways between the chassis back plate and the magnetic top plate, allowing heated air from the voice coil and gap to be channelled away and dissipated by the chassis basket. 18 Sound recommends a substantial 140-litre (4.94 ft³) vented enclosure tuned to 52 Hz — the largest recommended cabinet volume of any 15-inch driver in this comparison, a direct consequence of the driver’s high Qts and Vas alignment.
