Superior Blaze by Sonance PowerZone Connect 3004D – 3000W 4-Channel Dante DSP Amplifier for High-Power Installations
The Blaze by Sonance PowerZone Connect 3004D is a 3000W DSP-enabled Class-D amplifier with four high-current output channels and integrated Audinate Dante™ audio-over-IP networking. Part of the PowerZone Connect 2U series, it steps up from the 1U family with a full-rack 2RU chassis, 2Ω drive capability, bridgeable outputs delivering up to 1500W per channel, and the kind of headroom that large-scale commercial and entertainment installations demand.
Powered by Pascal UMAC™ Class-D technology and equipped with the same PowerZone™ Control web app found across the entire Connect range, the 3004D adds Dante™ as a native input source — making it a natural fit for networked AV infrastructures in shopping malls, convention centres, large houses of worship, auditoriums, and entertainment complexes. For integrators across Africa taking on high-output, multi-zone projects, this amplifier delivers serious power with professional-grade DSP and AoIP connectivity in a single box.
Design and Construction of the Blaze by Sonance PowerZone Connect 3004D
The PowerZone Connect 3004D occupies a full-width 2RU chassis measuring 88 × 440 × 332 mm (3.5″ × 17.3″ × 13.1″) and weighing 7.4 kg. The step up to 2U gives the amplifier the thermal headroom and power supply capacity needed to sustain 3000W of continuous output into demanding loads.
The output stage is built on Pascal’s UMAC™ Class-D platform — a full-bandwidth PWM modulator designed for ultra-low distortion. Unlike the 1U models, the 2U series supports loads down to 2Ω in single-ended (SE) mode and offers bridge-tied load (BTL) operation for doubling voltage swing into higher-impedance loads. The UREC™ universal mains switch-mode power supply features Power Factor Correction (PFC) and an integral standby converter, accepting 100–240V AC at 50–60 Hz.
Protection circuitry covers short circuit, DC fault, under-voltage, thermal, and overload conditions. The unit is UL listed, ErP and Energy Star compliant, and backed by Blaze’s five-year warranty. An integrated wireless access point (WAP) enables cable-free setup via Wi-Fi during commissioning — particularly useful in large venues where running a laptop to the rack room is inconvenient.
Performance and Applications for the PowerZone Connect 3004D
In single-ended Lo-Z mode, each of the four channels delivers 750W into 2Ω or 4Ω loads, dropping to 400W at 8Ω. Bridge the outputs into two channels and you get 1500W per channel into 4Ω or 8Ω — enough to drive full-range loudspeaker cabinets, subwoofers, or high-output column arrays in large-format spaces.
Switch to Hi-Z mode for distributed speaker lines: two bridged channels deliver 1200W at 70V or 1500W at 100V. That is a substantial amount of power for long-run constant-voltage systems in airports, malls, convention halls, and campus-wide paging networks where dozens — or even hundreds — of ceiling and horn speakers are tapped off a single line.
The integrated Audinate Dante™ interface provides low-latency, lossless digital audio transport over standard Ethernet. This allows the 3004D to receive audio streams from any Dante-enabled source — mixing consoles, DSP processors, media servers, or other Dante amplifiers — without analogue cabling between devices. For large networked installations, Dante simplifies infrastructure, reduces cable bulk, and makes system expansion straightforward.
The built-in PowerZone™ Control web app delivers the same full-matrix DSP as every other PowerZone Connect model: multizone routing, input mixing, priority and ducking for paging, restriction, parametric EQ on inputs and outputs, high-pass filtering, speaker presets, delay, sine generator, and Wall-S1 controller configuration. Audio performance is excellent — signal-to-noise ratio exceeds 106 dB (A-weighted), THD+N stays below 0.05%, and frequency response holds within +0/−0.25 dB across 20 Hz – 20 kHz.
Typical applications include shopping malls and large retail complexes, convention centres and exhibition halls, auditoriums and performing arts venues, large houses of worship, casino floors, hotel ballrooms, stadiums and sports facilities, and campus-wide paging and distributed audio systems.
