EAW SBX218

Flagship Dual 18-Inch Intelligent Active Subwoofer System

The EAW SBX218 represents the undisputed pinnacle of high-output active low-frequency technology, purpose-built to act as an unyielding sonic anchor for premium medium to large scale applications. Engineered to flawlessly reinforce everything from RADIUS (RSX) mobile set-ups up to flagship ADAPTive acoustic infrastructure systems, the EAW SBX218 delivers chest-thumping, touring-grade bass extension with immense physical authority. It stands as the definitive system design tool for major live production networks, elite high-capacity rental houses, and world-class permanent venues where uncompromising acoustic energy and rapid setup speed are essential.

Aircraft-Grade Fluid Dynamics & Neodymium Driver Muscle

At the absolute core of the EAW SBX218 are two premium, ultra-high-output 18-inch neodymium transducers. Driven by massive motor structures and heavy-duty 4-inch voice coils, these elite drivers drastically reduce overall system weight while maximizing explosive low-end structural punch with minimum power compression.

To control the immense kinetic force generated by these cones, the enclosure features a revolutionary, ultra-large aerodynamic port architecture directly inspired by aircraft design. By optimizing internal airway velocity and entirely eliminating turbulent port friction “chuffing,” the cabinet maintains spectacular tonal precision. The subwoofer delivers hyper-accurate, clinical transients with zero acoustic distortion across its wide 25 Hz to 120 Hz operating spectrum.

Automated Stacking Stability & Concealed Multi-Rigging

The mechanical design of the EAW SBX218 addresses every operational challenge faced by system technicians in the field. The cabinet is equipped with custom-molded, heavy-duty interlocking rubber runners on its top and side panels. These architectural runners securely lock adjacent subwoofers together when grouped, allowing them to firmly resist mechanical movement caused by intense low-end structural vibrations while presenting an ultra-clean, uniform look.

For hybrid arrays, the enclosure includes two dedicated sets of flybar locating pins to natively support ground-stacked deployment of NTX line array systems at any specified splay angle. Furthermore, the back and sides feature integrated cable chases and pass-through tracks. This intelligent configuration completely conceals line array and sub-bass signal feeds, keeping structural wiring invisible to the audience.

Massive Class D Power & DynO™ Dynamic Safeguards

  • 5000W Peak Power Engine: Powered by a specialized, modified Class D internal amplifier module delivering up to 2500 Watts per driver (5000W total peak), backed by a universal, power factor corrected auto-sensing power supply that runs flawlessly on any global AC voltage line from 100V to 240V.

  • Real-Time DynO™ Intelligence: Integrated with EAW’s proprietary DynO™ (Dynamic Optimization) preprocessing. This smart system tracks transducer limits in real time, detecting narrow-band frequency stresses and dynamically lifting performance to secure every single available decibel of acoustic headroom while keeping the voice coils bulletproof against overload.

  • Dante™ Digital Audio Networking: Outfitted with an expansive terminal plate featuring premium analog XLR interfaces alongside dual RJ45 Dante™ digital networking ports for digital audio routing, loop-through linking, and comprehensive system control.

  • Refined Integration Layout: Outfitted with 4-point integrated rigging tracks for permanent overhead suspension, multiple secure tie-down anchor points, an M20 threaded satellite pole mount, and a heavy-duty acoustically transparent protective front steel grille.
