Streamlined Blaze by Sonance PowerZone 252 – 250W 2-Channel Installation Amplifier with Flexible Lo-Z/Hi-Z Configuration
The Blaze by Sonance PowerZone 252 is a 250W non-networked Class-D installation amplifier with two independently configurable output channels in an ultra-compact half-rack 1U chassis. Part of the simplified PowerZone series — designed for installations where clean, reliable power matters more than on-board DSP — the 252 delivers 125W per channel with per-channel Lo-Z/Hi-Z selection, automatic power-sharing, and DIP-switch configuration that gets you from unboxing to commissioned in minutes.
Powered by Pascal UMAC™ Class-D technology, the PowerZone 252 gives integrators across Africa an affordable, no-software amplifier for dual-zone background music, single-zone Hi-Z distributed lines, or any two-channel application where the signal processing lives upstream in a separate mixer or DSP unit. At just 44.5 × 220 × 262 mm and with desk, wall, and rack mounting options, it fits where larger amplifiers simply cannot.
Design and Construction of the Blaze by Sonance PowerZone 252
The PowerZone 252 uses a half-rack width 1U chassis measuring 44.5 × 220 × 262 mm (1.75″ × 8.66″ × 10.31″). Two units sit side by side in a single 19″ rack space using optional rack ears and a half-rack extension plate. The unit can also be mounted under a desk or on a wall with optional brackets, or placed freestanding with the included adhesive rubber feet — giving you genuine installation flexibility for equipment closets, furniture cavities, and behind-the-scenes spaces.
The amplifier runs on Pascal’s UMAC™ Class-D output stage — the same proven technology used across both the PowerZone and PowerZone Connect families. The UREC™ universal mains switch-mode power supply features Power Factor Correction (PFC) and an integral standby converter, accepting 100–240V AC at 50–60 Hz. Power consumption is just 75W at full load, with standby draw below 0.5W — meeting both ErP and Energy Star compliance.
Protection circuits cover short circuit, DC fault, under-voltage, thermal, and overload conditions. The unit is UL listed and backed by Blaze’s five-year warranty. A front-panel control lock prevents unauthorised changes to the configuration after commissioning.
Performance and Applications for the PowerZone 252
Each of the two output channels delivers 125W into 4Ω or 8Ω loads in Lo-Z mode, or 125W into 70V or 100V in Hi-Z mode. Each channel is independently configurable via rear-panel DIP switches, so you can run one channel into a pair of conventional Lo-Z ceiling speakers and the other into a 70V distributed line — all from the same compact amplifier.
The PowerZone 252 features automatic power-sharing — a capability shared with the PowerZone 504 but not available on the 1004. Total available power of 250W is redistributed proportionally between the two output channels, so a zone with heavier speaker loading draws more than its base 125W while the lighter zone scales back. This intelligent redistribution keeps both zones at optimal output without manual gain adjustments.
Configuration is handled entirely through rear-panel DIP switches — no web app, no network connection, and no software required. A GPIO interface via Euroblock connector allows connection of a standard remote potentiometer for volume control from a wall panel, plus standby control and system status indication for integration with external controllers.
Typical applications include small cafés and bistros, individual retail units, hair salons and beauty studios, single meeting rooms, hotel back-of-house zones, small reception areas, and any compact two-zone installation where an external mixer or DSP handles the audio processing and the amplifier simply needs to deliver reliable power to the speakers. The PowerZone 252 is also a strong choice for retrofit projects where a straightforward, no-software amplifier replacement keeps the installation simple and cost-effective.

Conclusion
The Blaze by Sonance PowerZone 252 is the entry point to the non-networked PowerZone series — and the most compact amplifier in the Blaze range that includes automatic power-sharing. With 250W across two independently configurable channels, DIP-switch setup, and a half-rack chassis that mounts in a rack, on a wall, under a desk, or on a shelf, it delivers genuine installation versatility without software, network connections, or commissioning complexity.
For integrators across Africa, the PowerZone 252 is the right tool when budget and simplicity are the priority. It sits comfortably alongside PowerZone Connect models in a mixed rack — the Connect units handle the zones that need DSP and network control, while the 252 covers the straightforward two-channel feeds. Backed by the same Pascal UMAC™ engine, UREC™ universal power supply, comprehensive protection, and five-year warranty as every other Blaze amplifier, it is built to deliver reliable, set-and-forget performance for years to come.
