Reliable Blaze by Sonance PowerZone Connect 252 – 250W 2-Channel DSP Amplifier for High-Power Dual-Zone Installations

The Blaze by Sonance PowerZone Connect 252 is a 250W DSP-enabled Class-D amplifier that delivers two high-output channels from one of the smallest chassis in the PowerZone Connect 1U family. At 125W per channel in Lo-Z or a single 250W channel in Hi-Z, it doubles the per-channel output of the 122 while sharing the same ultra-compact short-depth enclosure — making it the strongest two-channel option in the range for installers who need real power from a minimal footprint.

Powered by Pascal UMAC™ Class-D technology and equipped with the full PowerZone™ Control web app, the PowerZone Connect 252 provides the same multizone DSP, hybrid Lo-Z/Hi-Z operation, and automatic power-sharing found across the entire range. For integrators across Africa working on dual-zone venues, stereo background music systems, or single high-power distributed speaker lines, the 252 offers a purpose-built solution that weighs just 2 kg and sits in half a rack space.

Design and Construction of the Blaze by Sonance PowerZone Connect 252

The PowerZone Connect 252 shares the short-depth half-rack chassis used by the 122. Dimensions are 44 × 220 × 213 mm (1.7″ × 8.7″ × 8.4″) at just 2 kg (4.4 lbs) — the joint-lightest and shallowest enclosure in the entire PowerZone Connect lineup. At only 213 mm deep, it fits into furniture cavities, under-counter spaces, shallow wall boxes, and equipment closets where even the standard-depth half-rack models would not clear.

Two 252 units sit side by side in a single 19″ rack space for four channels of 125W, or pair one with a 122 for a mixed two-plus-two configuration. Adhesive rubber feet are included for freestanding placement, with optional rack ears, extension plates, and full rack support kits available separately.

The output stage runs on Pascal’s UMAC™ Class-D technology — a full-bandwidth PWM modulator engineered for ultra-low distortion. The UREC™ universal mains switch-mode power supply features Power Factor Correction (PFC) and an integral standby converter, accepting 100–240V AC at 50–60 Hz. Power consumption is just 75W at full load with standby draw below 0.5W, meeting both ErP and Energy Star standards. Protection circuits cover short circuit, DC fault, under-voltage, thermal, and overload conditions. The unit is UL listed and backed by Blaze’s five-year warranty.

Performance and Applications for the PowerZone Connect 252

In Lo-Z mode, each of the two output channels delivers 125W into 4Ω or 8Ω loads. That is more than double the 122’s 60W per channel — enough to drive larger ceiling speaker arrays, full-range surface-mount cabinets, or small column speakers at levels suitable for foreground music and live speech reinforcement, not just background fill.

Switch to Hi-Z and the unit reconfigures as a single 250W channel driving a 70V or 100V distributed speaker line. A quarter-kilowatt on a single constant-voltage line covers a significant run of tapped ceiling speakers — ideal for long hotel corridors, retail malls, airport concourses, or warehouse paging systems where cable distance makes Hi-Z the practical choice.

Automatic power-sharing redistributes up to 250W across both output channels proportionally in Lo-Z mode. If one zone draws harder than the other, the amplifier rebalances without manual intervention — keeping both zones at optimal output without clipping or gain riding.

The built-in PowerZone™ Control web app provides the same full-matrix DSP as the larger models: multizone routing, input mixing, priority and ducking for paging, restriction, parametric EQ on inputs and outputs, high-pass filtering, speaker presets, delay, sine generator, Wall-S1 controller configuration, and Master/Slave S/PDIF linking for cascading multiple amplifiers. Access it from any browser via built-in Wi-Fi or the RJ45 network port.

Audio performance is consistent with the family: signal-to-noise ratio exceeds 106 dB (A-weighted), THD+N stays below 0.05% across 20 Hz – 20 kHz, and frequency response holds within +0/−0.25 dB into an 8Ω load. Typical applications include stereo background music in restaurants and bars, dual-zone retail stores, reception and lobby areas, small fitness studios, individual classrooms, and compact houses of worship where two powerful zones are all that is needed.

Conclusion

The Blaze by Sonance PowerZone Connect 252 is the most powerful two-channel amplifier in the short-depth PowerZone Connect chassis. With 250W of total system power, 125W per channel in Lo-Z, and a single 250W channel in Hi-Z, it delivers genuine foreground-capable output from a half-rack enclosure that is just 213 mm deep and weighs 2 kg. The full PowerZone™ Control DSP suite, automatic power-sharing, and Master/Slave S/PDIF linking come standard.

For integrators across Africa, the 252 fills the gap between the entry-level 122 and the four-channel 254 — offering double the per-channel power in the same 2 kg short-depth package. It is ideal for dual-zone restaurants, stereo music systems, reception areas, and compact venues where two powerful channels are all the project calls for. Pair two 252 units side by side for four channels of 125W in a single rack space, or combine one with a 122 for a cost-effective three-channel build. Backed by universal mains input, comprehensive protection, and a five-year warranty, the 252 is a dependable anchor for straightforward, space-conscious installations.
