RAM Audio DENEB 5Q

4-Channel 5,000W Installation Amplifier with FIR DSP

Overview

The RAM Audio DENEB 5Q is a 4-channel, 5,000W total output installation amplifier that covers mid-to-high power requirements in professional fixed installations. It targets the same market as the DENEB 2.5Q — system integrators, AV contractors, and installation engineers — but at double the total output, making it the right choice when zones are larger, drivers are more demanding, or the system requires headroom that a 2,500W unit cannot comfortably provide.

Like all DENEB Series amplifiers, the DENEB 5Q is built specifically for installation rather than adapted from a touring product. Phoenix connectors, both low-impedance and high-impedance operation on the same chassis, on-board FIR DSP, and an upside-down chassis design that limits dust accumulation are all standard. The DENEB 5Q does not require separate DSP hardware in most installation scenarios.

Power and Load Flexibility

The DENEB 5Q delivers 5,000W total output with all four channels driven at 1,250W each. RAM Audio’s PCM™ power management redistributes the 5,000W budget dynamically — when channels are unloaded or idle, up to 2,500W can be delivered from a single channel. Bridge mode supports 2× 2,500W configurations for high-power two-channel applications such as dedicated subwoofer amplification.

Low-impedance operation covers 2, 4, and 8 ohm. High-impedance distributed audio lines at 35V, 50V, 70V, and 100V are all supported and switchable per channel through DSP configuration. This makes the DENEB 5Q viable across a wide range of installation topologies — from point-source zoned systems to 100V distributed speaker runs with significant line length.

On-Board FIR DSP

The DENEB 5Q includes the same 64-bit double-precision 96kHz FIR DSP as the rest of the DENEB range. The processor handles all critical signal management tasks: 36-filter per-channel input EQ, FIR and IIR crossover filters up to 48 dB/oct, per-channel output delay (up to 31 metres), RMS and Peak limiting, and full routing flexibility. A preset library of 100 manufacturer presets covers common loudspeaker configurations; 20 user presets and 20 snapshots allow site-specific configurations to be stored and recalled.

Control is via the large IPS capacitive touch display on the front panel — no laptop required during commissioning for most tasks — or via RAM_OCS software over Ethernet or USB for advanced configuration, system preset management, and remote monitoring.

Professional Protection Suite

The DENEB 5Q carries the complete RAM Audio protection suite: soft-start, turn-on and turn-off transient muting, over-heating protection, DC output protection, RF interference protection, short-circuit protection, open or mismatched load detection, and power supply overload protection. ICL™ (Intelligent Clip Limiting) handles clip events dynamically, and PCM™ manages power supply loading in real time. The combination keeps the DENEB 5Q operating through conditions that would shut down less sophisticated amplifiers.

DENEB 5Q – Installation Design and Connectivity

Phoenix connectors throughout, inverted chassis design, and removable foam dust filter are standard. The DENEB 5Q occupies 2U, weighs 7 kg, and draws 85W at idle from a 230V AC supply. At 1/8 rated power into 4 ohm, current draw is 3.7A — relevant for circuit planning in installed environments.

Optional factory-fitted modules include Dante™ network audio, AES67 (ATMOS and RAVENNA compatible) digital input, AES3 digital input, and GPIO for third-party control system integration. Options can be combined. The DENEB 5Q supports Ethernet daisy-chaining across multiple units, allowing large multi-amplifier systems to be managed from a single network connection.
