Dependable Blaze by Sonance PowerZone Connect 1002 – 1000W 2-Channel DSP Amplifier for High-Power Dual-Zone Installations

The Blaze by Sonance PowerZone Connect 1002 is a 1000W DSP-enabled Class-D amplifier that delivers two high-current output channels from a full-rack 2RU chassis. As the entry point to the PowerZone Connect 2U series, it brings 2Ω drive capability, bridgeable outputs, and the full PowerZone™ Control DSP suite to a focused two-channel format — giving integrators a step up from the 1U range without committing to a four- or eight-channel model when the project only requires two powered zones.

Powered by Pascal UMAC™ Class-D technology, the PowerZone Connect 1002 delivers 500W per channel in Lo-Z mode or a bridged 1000W single channel in BTL and Hi-Z operation. For integrators across Africa working on dedicated high-power zones, stereo foreground music systems, subwoofer channels, or substantial 70V/100V distributed lines, the 1002 provides the 2U platform’s build quality and low-impedance capability at the most accessible price point in the series.

Design and Construction of the Blaze by Sonance PowerZone Connect 1002

The PowerZone Connect 1002 uses the same full-width 2RU chassis shared across the entire 2U series — 88 × 440 × 332 mm (3.5″ × 17.3″ × 13.1″). The 2U enclosure provides the thermal management and power supply headroom needed for sustained high-current operation into low-impedance loads, while fitting neatly into standard 19″ racks alongside four- and eight-channel models from the same family.

The output stage runs on Pascal’s UMAC™ Class-D platform — a full-bandwidth PWM modulator engineered for ultra-low distortion. Like every 2U model, the 1002 supports loads down to 2Ω in single-ended mode and offers bridge-tied load (BTL) operation that combines both channels into a single output for doubled voltage swing. The UREC™ universal mains switch-mode power supply features Power Factor Correction (PFC) and an integral standby converter, accepting 100–240V AC at 50–60 Hz for worldwide deployment.

Protection circuits cover short circuit, DC fault, under-voltage, thermal, and overload conditions. The unit is UL listed, ErP and Energy Star compliant, and includes an integrated wireless access point (WAP) for cable-free commissioning via Wi-Fi. All of this is backed by Blaze’s standard five-year warranty.

Performance and Applications for the PowerZone Connect 1002

In single-ended Lo-Z mode, each of the two channels delivers 500W into 2Ω or 4Ω loads. That is the same per-channel output as the 4-channel 2004 — enough to drive high-output full-range cabinets, column arrays, or dedicated subwoofer enclosures at foreground music and speech reinforcement levels in medium-to-large rooms.

Bridge the two channels into a single BTL output and the 1002 delivers 1000W into 4Ω or 8Ω. In Hi-Z mode, that same bridged output pushes 1000W into a 70V or 100V distributed speaker line — a kilowatt on a single constant-voltage run covers a significant network of tapped ceiling and horn speakers across hotel corridors, retail wings, or campus buildings.

The built-in PowerZone™ Control web app provides the same full-matrix DSP as every other PowerZone Connect model: multizone routing, input mixing, priority and ducking for paging, restriction, parametric EQ on inputs and outputs, high-pass filtering, speaker presets, delay, sine generator, Wall-S1 controller configuration, and Master/Slave S/PDIF linking for cascading multiple amplifiers. Access it from any browser via the built-in Wi-Fi or the RJ45 network port.

Audio performance is consistent with the 2U family: signal-to-noise ratio exceeds 106 dB (A-weighted), THD+N stays below 0.05%, and frequency response holds within +0/−0.25 dB across 20 Hz – 20 kHz into an 8Ω load. Typical applications include stereo foreground music in restaurants and entertainment venues, dedicated subwoofer amplification paired alongside multi-channel models, high-power single-zone or dual-zone distributed audio lines in retail and hospitality, PA feeds for mid-size auditoriums, and any installation requiring two channels of 500W or one bridged channel of 1000W from a professional 2U platform.

Conclusion

The Blaze by Sonance PowerZone Connect 1002 is the entry point to the PowerZone Connect 2U series — and the most affordable way to access 2Ω drive capability, bridgeable outputs, and the 2U platform’s robust build quality. With 1000W across two channels, 500W per channel in Lo-Z, and a bridgeable 1000W single output for BTL or Hi-Z, it provides the step up from the 1U range that projects with heavier speaker loads demand.

For integrators across Africa, the 1002 fits naturally as the two-channel complement to multi-channel 2U models in mixed rack builds. Pair it with a 2004 or 3004 for a combined setup — the 1002 handles the subwoofer or high-power foreground channel while the multi-channel unit covers the remaining zones. It shares the same 2U chassis, DSP platform, PowerZone™ Control web app, and five-year warranty as every other model in the series, so your commissioning workflow stays consistent from the smallest to the largest amplifier in the rack. Combined with Blaze Ci, CBL, or CCA Series loudspeakers — or any compatible 2Ω–16Ω and 70V/100V speakers — the 1002 delivers dependable, high-output amplification where it counts.
